Choosing the right memorial material
Memorial materials vary in colour, grain and movement. Deep black and grey stones can create a quiet, formal appearance, while blue, green, red, pink and pale stones bring their own natural character. Marble and Yorkstone offer further visual choices for an appropriate memorial design.
The best headstone colour is the one that works with the shape, inscription and place of remembrance. Letter colour and carving can appear differently against each stone, so we consider the whole memorial rather than treating material as a separate detail.
Surface and light
Polished, honed and part-polished finishes
